Valley Home Sales Surge 70% The Facts are coming out, Are they pointing to a housing recovery?

Sorry, I kinda checked out for the Christmas holiday. Well, really I got a virus, bought a new computer, was on jury duty and had the holiday and family to consume this last week!

I wanted to update you on some of the recent data about both the national and our valley’s housing market.

  • Home Sales Jumped 30% in the West
  • Phoenix was much stronger with a 70% rise over last year(have you heard this story???)
  • The Valley’s median sale price fell by 13% from last year
  • BUT, prices are up 13.9% since their low in March
  • Nationally sales soared by almost 47%

LOS ANGELES – Home sales jumped 30 percent in the Western region of the country in November, driven largely by first-time buyers racing to qualify for a tax credit that was set to expire.

In the Phoenix area, the change was far more dramatic, with November home sales up 70 percent from a year earlier, according to a National Association of Realtors report based on data from the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service.
